Andrew Divoff recently presented our second scholarship award of the 2018. Andrew says, “Miss B. Heil – seen receiving the award in this video, impressed the MFTAC with the initiative she took in writing and performing her own monologue.
As always, none of the good that MFTAC does would happen without your support and for that I, and the MFTAC are eternally grateful.
We are pleased to announce that two young women have been selected for our 2nd annual MFTAC scholarships. Our founder, Andrew Divoff, presented a scholarship to one of our recipients at the recent Rim High Scholarship Awards ceremony.

The Mountain Film & Theatre Arts scholarship committee is proud to present the second annual scholarships to two students seeking to pursue and further their career in the film and theater arts.
High school seniors (currently attending Rim High, Mountain High, and Lake Arrowhead Christian) planning to study performing arts after graduation must submit a monologue of three minutes for consideration. Monologues longer than three minutes will not be considered. Entries should be submitted online on a DVD and include the student’s name, origin of the monologue and the character’s name.
A panel of judges, which will include film industry professionals, will select the winning students.
Two students will each be each awarded a $1,000 scholarship. However, in the event of 3-4 exemplary applicants, we may divide the award between 3-4 students. Scholarships will be distributed upon receipt of tuition payment from the bursar at the designated institution.
Applications are available through the College and Career Office at Rim High beginning Monday, February 26, 2018, and must be returned there no later than 2:00 pm on Friday, March 30th, 2018.
MFTAC was founded by Andrew Divoff with the great help of Robin Bull (Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce president), John Connor (owner of the Tudor House), and Mary Justine Lanyon (former Editor in Chief of the Mountain News.) The scholarship is designed to help individuals living in the mountain communities to pursue a career in the performing arts.

“Please say hello and congratulations , from left to right, to Sydney, Tyler and Trisha. These young people are the first ever recipients of the Mountain Film and Theatre Arts Committee Scholarship (MFTAC).
The scholarships were awarded on May 23rd past , and these students are no doubt awash with the hopes and dreams of what is to come. I have told them they will always be welcome to come back to their home ground and share their experiences with the community and with those students who hope to follow in their footsteps. …All of them are putting their scholarships to good use. Most recently, Trisha tells me she is studying with Michelle Greene – of LA Law fame and a community member – and intends to further her studies at University level.
I am reaching out to you now to thank you for your support and so that you might see the faces of those young lives you have helped to inspire with your generosity…”

Entries should be submitted online via Film Freeway (at no charge) or on a DVD and include the student’s name, origin of the monologue and the character’s name.
A panel of judges will select the top five students who will be paired and prepare a scene that is three to five minutes long. The scenes, to be presented at The Tudor House in Lake Arrowhead in front of an audience, will be filmed for the judges.
Two students will each be each awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Applications are available through the College and Career Office and must be returned no later than 2:00 pm on March 31, 2017.
